Winifred (1) Woodhurst was born near the end of 1892 to parents William (2) Woodhurst and his wife Sarah Ann. Her birth certificate [Birth Index: Edmonton 3a 343, 1893 (March)] states that she was born on December 27th 1892 at her parents' address 4, Townsend Villas in Tottenham. Her father, occupied as a commercial traveller, was the informant.
She was admitted to the Glyn Road School in Clapton on June 14th 1897, the register giving her address as 54, Roding Road in Homerton [LMA: LCC/EO/DIV04/GLY/AD/002].
The 1901 Census finds her at age 8 living with her parents at 12, Eighth Avenue in East Ham, Essex.
When WW2 began she went to live in Bromham, Bedfordshire with her married sister Blanche (2), as did also her widowed mother Sarah Ann. She married George Bowskill in 1942 [Marriage Index: Biggleswade 3b 965, 1942 (Sept)] and then moved to a home of her own in Shefford, Bedfordshire.
In 1965 she remarried to Frank Gray.
She died on February 3rd 1981 at the Hitchin Hospital at Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
