William Jacob Woodhurst was born on June 27th 1926 in Nebraska to parents Thurston Woodhurst and his wife Hazel Anna (nee) Smith.
The US 1930 Census finds him aged "3 years and 9 months" living with his mother and older sister in the household of his mother's parents in North Platte, Lincoln Co. in Nebraska.
The US 1940 Census finds him aged "14" living with his parents at 220, North Jeffers Street in North Platte.
He attended North Platte High School whose yearbooks for 1942 and 1943 contain photographs of him.
He enlisted in the US Naval Reserve on December 11th 1943. His Draft Registration Card, issued in about 1945, gives his age as "19" and his address as 1753, Grant Street in Denver, Colorado; his employer was entered as "Ex Service USNR". He was discharged on April 18th 1946. During WW2 he served in category S1 (Administration and Personnel).
He married Betty Louise (nee) Mortenson in Denver on June 30th 1951. Their marriage certificate states that he had been residing at 2857, South Colorado Boulevard and she at 1620, Grant Street. They were married by a Catholic priest at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Betty was born on January 22nd 1927 to parents Carl Mortenson (born in Sweden) and his wife Alma Kindstrom.
He died on February 27th 1995. The American Social Security Death Index gives his SSN (issued in Colorado before 1951) as 523-22-2260 and states that he had been residing at 80111 Englewood, Arapahoe Co. in Colorado. He was buried on March 2nd 1995 in "Plot 4 0 1665" at Denver's Fort Logan National Cemetery. The burial record describes him as "US Navy, S1, (resident of) Englewood, CO".
