William (1) Woodus was born to parents Andrew (1) Woodus and his wife Ann(e). He was christened on January 12th 1711 [Fairlight Parish Register].
He married a woman named Susannah. She was very probably the Sussannah [sic] Morris recorded as having married a William Woodus at Ninfield on February 7th 1741 [IGI: Batch 7102003]. Ninfield lies some ten miles west of Fairlight and may have been her parish of origin.
Susannah was buried on March 22nd 1778, being recorded as 'Wife of William Woodus' [Fairlight Parish Register]. Since the record says 'wife' rather than 'widow' it appears that her husband was still alive in 1778. He was probably the 'William Woodus' buried on December 7th 1785 whom the record [Fairlight Parish Register] implies to have been an adult (his parents are not named, whereas the register cites the parents of all deceased children).
Nothing more is currently known of him.
with their dates of christening (all at Fairlight) ...
* This is probably the parish register's pre-1752 Julian Calendar date whereby each new year began on March 25th. He was thus probably christened in the year we now regard as 1745.
