He married Jane Matilda Blewett at Portsea, Hampshire in 1877 [Marriage Index: Portsea 2b 865, 1877 (Dec)]. She was born in Wales in 1858 [Birth Index: Swansea 11a 471, 1858 (Dec)].
In August 1878, when their first child was born, they were living at 3, North Place in Portsea, and he was then occupied as a bricklayer's labourer.
The 1881 Census finds them living at 1, North Place in Portsea with two children. He was still occupied as a bricklayer's labourer. All his children were given three forenames.
The 1891 Census finds the family living at 5, Youngs Court in Portsea. Thomas Oliver was still occupied as a bricklayer's labourer.
Jane Matilda died at Portsea aged 40 in 1899 [Death Index: Portsea 2b 404, 1899 (Sept)].
The 1901 Census finds Thomas Oliver widowed and living at 72, Cresswell Street in Portsmouth with his son Donald John W. and again occupied as a bricklayer's labourer.
He died at Portsmouth aged '54' in 1910 [Death Index: Portsmouth 2b 281, 1910 (June)]. All three of his sons died without issue.
Ann Relf died in infancy [Death Index: Portsea 2b 272, 1887 (Sept)].
