Susannah (2) Woodhurst was born in 1854 to parents John (5) Woodhurst and his wife Susannah (nee White) [Birth Index: Thanet 2a 608, 1854 (June)]. She was christened at Ramsgate on June 4th 1854 [IGI: Batch I023287].
The 1861 Census finds her at age "6" living with her parents in Ramsgate.
The 1871 Census finds her at age "16" living with her parents at Nos. 22 and 24, Harbour Street in Ramsgate, Kent and occupied as a shop assistant.
In 1876 she married Edwin Pullen [Marriage Index: Thanet 2a 1530, 1876 (Dec)]. He was born in Bognor, Sussex in 1848 [Birth Index: Chichester 7 345, 1848 (June)]. The 1851 Census finds him aged "2" living with his parents William Pullen - a fishmonger - and Harriett in West Street, South Bersted in Sussex.
The 1881 Census finds Susannah (2) living at 51, Harbour Street in Ramsgate with her husband - occupied as a grocer - and their 2-year-old son. Edwin was probably related to another Edwin Pullen who, at the time of this census, was a widower aged 61 - also born at Bognor - lodging at the "Crown and Sceptic Tap" inn at 6, Queen Street in Greenwich and employed as a waiter.
Susannah (2) died aged 35 around early 1890 [Death Index: Thanet 2a 126, 1890 (March)].
Edwin remarried soon afterwards to Eliza (nee) Nicoll [Marriage Index: Camberwell 1d 1004, 1891 (March)]. She was born in 1861 [Birth Index: Bermondsey 1d 75, 1861 (June)].
The 1891 Census finds Edwin and Eliza boarding with a large family headed by Arthur Cooper at 3, High Street in Tunbridge, Kent. He is described as a hawk jeweller aged "41" and born in Bognor, and Eliza as aged "29" and born in Bermondsey. The same census finds Susannah (2)'s son Edwin Woodhurst Pullen living with her father John (5) at the "George and Dragon Hotel" in Ramsgate.
