Mercy (1) Woodhurst was born in 1837 in Buckland, a few miles north-west of Dover, to parents William (3) Woodhurst and his first wife Mary [Birth Index: Dover 5 79, 1837 (Sept)]. Hers was the first Woodhurst birth to be recorded under the UK's civil registration system, which began in mid-1837. A descendant reports that she was born on July 27th 1837.
She emigrated in the 1850s - as did some of her other siblings - to America, where she married James Goodwin Page in Ashland, Ohio on February 19th 1857 [IGI: Batch M515981]. James was very probably a brother of Ann Page, the wife of Mercy (1)'s brother William (4). He had been christened in Faversham, Kent on March 7th 1830, his parents (like Ann's) named as John and Jane [FHL: Film No. 1786453].
Nothing more has been discovered of either of them.
