John (4) Woodhurst was born to parents Thomas (1) Woodhurst and his wife Mercy Swadling. He was christened at Pett on February 11th 1810 [Pett Parish Register].
He was most probably the John Woodhurst who was buried at age '13' on November 25th 1824 at Stone-in-Oxney in Kent [Stone Parish Register]. Stone lies about 12 miles north-east of Pett, close to the Sussex-Kent boundary. His age, however, ought in that case to have been at least 14.
