Irene Thompson Woodhurst was born at Abbeville, SC of parents Andrew Jackson Woodhurst and his wife Ann(e) Amanda Kennedy on July 28th 1867, married there to James Henry McNeill around 1888, died in McCormick, SC on April 18th 1960 and was buried in McCormick City [uncorroborated IGI ancestral file].
A researcher's database [www.rddeason.com] dealing with Deason families states that one of her children was William Robert McNeill; that this child was born at McCormick City on February 2nd 1897; and that he married Maude Deason. However, the US 1900 Census strongly implies that his birth was actually in February 1896.
Another internet record dealing with McNeill families states that James Henry was born at Abbeville on November 18th 1860 of parents Thomas McNeill and his wife Rachel B. Charles, that he and Irene produced the eight children listed below and that he died on October 26th 1940. However, the same record cites for their marriage the impossible date of December 21st "1868", possibly intended to be 1888.
The US 1900 Census finds Irene and James, with their first six children as listed below, living in Abbeville. James, whose father was born in Ireland, was employed at a cloth mill, as so also was his son Fred. They had been married for "13" years.
The US 1910 Census finds Irene and James, with all eight children, living in Abbeville. James was now working as a farmer. They had been married for "22" years.
The US 1920 Census finds Irene and James, with their last four children as listed below, living in West Greenwood, McCormick County, SC. James was still working as a farmer, and his sons William Robert and James Allen were farm labourers. The birthplaces of the fathers of Irene and James are wrongly cited here as South Carolina.
