Inez Lucile Woodhurst was born in Colorado in 1892 to Charles John Woodhurst and his wife Sarah Agnes (nee) Barnum. Sources differ as to her precise date of birth, some giving August 6th 1892 and others giving April 16th 1893.
The US 1900 Census finds her at age "7" living with just her mother and her 13-year-old brother Charles Grant in Denver City, Arapahoe Co. in Colorado. Her birthdate is given as August 1892. Her (absent) father is described as born in Missouri. Her mother is described as born in Ohio in June 1860, aged "39" and married for 18 years, having produced just two children.
The US 1910 Census finds her at age "17" living with her parents at 618, Remington Street in Fort Collins, Larimer Co., Colorado. She was unoccupied, whilst her father Charles John was described as a civil engineer.
The US 1920 Census finds her at age "27" living with her widowed mother at Tolono, Champaign Co. in Illinois, in the household of her aunt Ellen A. Jordan. She had no occupation.
Soon after the 1920 Census she married Albert August Frederick Polk of Seymour who was then aged "33". She was then living in Urbana. The marriage application was dated February 24th 1920 [Application No. 7169 (1920)].
The US 1930 Census finds her at age "37" living with Albert and their three children in Champaign township where Albert was occupied as a farmer. His parents had been born in Germany.
The US 1940 Census finds her at age "47" living with Albert and the same three children in East Bends township, Champaign Co. where Albert was still occupied as a farmer.
Albert died aged "80" on August 3rd 1967 at the Mercy Hospital in Urbana, Champaign Co.
Inez died aged "84" on March 28th 1977. She had been residing at 1220, Barnett Avenue in Kansas City, Wyandotte Co., Kansas.
Betty married into the McFadden surname. She died aged "60" on December 17th 1981 at the Carswell Hospital in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., Texas. Her death certificate gives the cause of death as hepatic failure due to metastatic colon cancer. She had been working as a sales clerk for J. C. Penny's Department Store.
