Hazzard Willie Woodhurst was born to parents Walter Willie Woodhurst and his wife Velma Mae (nee) Hopke. He was born at Perry township in Ralls County, Missouri on October 8th 1917.
The US 1920 Census finds him at age "2" living with his parents in Salt River township, Ralls. Co.
The US 1930 Census finds him at age "12" still living with his parents in Salt River.
The US 1940 Census finds him at age "22" again living with his parents in Salt River and occupied, as they were, in farming.
Later that year, on December 21st 1940, he married Dorothy Lee (nee) Clary at Hannibal, Marion Co. in Missouri. She was born in Perry on November 24th 1922 to parents Martin Verdner Clary and his wife Mary Sophia (nee) Robison. Mary Sophia was born in Ralls Co. on January 9th 1902 to parents William Thomas Robison and his wife Mary Sophia (nee) Anderson, and died aged 101 in Center, Ralls Co. on April 17th 2003; her obituary was published on April 18th in The Hannibal Courier-Post. She was buried at the Olivet Cemetery in Center.
Hazzard's WW2 Draft Registration Card, issued in about 1941, names the person who would always know his address not as Dorothy but as his cousin Charles Davis of Perry.
An article published on Thursday April 24th 1975 in The Twainland Enterprise refers to Hazzard's farm being damaged - as were many others in the area - by a severe storm on the preceding Friday. It states:
"Mrs. Hazzard Woodhurst reported that their farm home, north of Perry, received hail damage which stripped the paint off the side of the house and some wind damage to the roof. Two hog houses on the farm are completely gone and their barn roof was damaged."
He died at the Westview Nursing Home in Centre, Ralls Co. on August 2nd 1991. This date and his birthdate are recorded in the American Social Security Death Index. He was buried at the Lick Creek Cemetery in Perry.
Dorothy Lee died on June 26th 2015 in Perry and was also buried at the Lick Creek Cemetery.
Shirley Jean married John C. Smith in 1960. She died on January 6th 2022 in Harbine, Nebraska.
Mary Frances (2) married Richard Bloomfield.
Dorothy Marie first married Gerald Ray Sharp (from whom divorced) and subsequently Edmund Walter Lewandowski. Gerald died on April 5th 2013. Edmund died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis on March 8th 2013.
Russell Dean died on April 11th 2013 in Columbia, Missouri.
Brenda Joyce first married Carey Ragland and subsequently Sandy Hicks, from both of whom divorced.
James Hazzard married Cindy Buffington.
Brian Alan married Delores Virginia Leake.
Ronald Keith married Beverly Benn.
