Eva Mae Woodhurst was born on September 6th 1908 to parents Walter (1) Woodhurst and his first wife Grace Curtis. Most of what is known of her derives from relative's reports.
She remained in her father's home after her mother died and took care of her young brother Earl George (2) until she became married.
On September 6th 1934 she married in Jackson, Jackson Co., Michigan to Sidney Carl Herbst. The marriage certificate describes her as aged "25" and residing in Concord, Jackson Co. He is described as a well digger aged "31" and residing in Wisconsin; his father was Carl and his mother Lillian Josephine (nee) McKay. He had been born at Sugar Creek, Walworth Co. in Wisconsin on March 18th 1903.
After marrying they moved to Wisconsin. The US 1940 Census finds them living there at Sugar Creek where Sidney was occupied as a farm labourer.
Sidney's WW2 Draft Registration Card, issued in about 1941, states that he and Eva were residing in Elkhorn, Walworth Co.
Sidney died in Elkhorn aged "70" on Christmas Day 1973.
According to the American Social Security Death Index Eva died on January 22nd 1990. The record confirms her date of birth. Her last place of residence is not specified. Her SSN, issued in Wisconsin, was 397-09-9837.
