Listed below are selected records of baptisms, marriages and burials of Woodhursts in the UK. Most of them are records of events which predated the introduction of Civil Registration in 1837.
They are presented in two groups. The first group comprises records appearing in the online IGI accessed from the LDS website. Many of them are records placed on the IGI through the controlled extraction programme which transcribed original parish and non-conformist records and which are therefore authentic and usually accurate; they have characteristic batch or film numbers by which their status can be recognized. Many other records, however, arise from LDS patron submissions and are generally not to be relied upon though they may serve as useful pointers. The online IGI is distinct from - and much larger than - the non-electronic microfiche version of the IGI released in 1998, but the latter contains about 8 million entries excluded - probably in perpetuity - from the online version. Both versions contain only a minority of the records held in the surviving original registers of parish churches and non-conformist chapels.
The second group comprises original parish and non-conformist records which have been extracted directly from original registers by either the site author or various professional researchers in the UK. These records did not appear in the online IGI at the times they were discovered.The records shown here focus mainly upon persons whose surnames were spelled as Woodhurst in the cited sources. However, a few cases have been included where variant spellings were used for persons believed to belong to true Woodhurst lines. Wherever possible, links are given to those persons appearing in the Woodhurst Family Genealogies.
