Blanche (2) Woodhurst was born in 1899 to parents William (2) Woodhurst and his wife Sarah Ann. Her birth certificate [Birth Index: Hackney 1b 480, 1899 (Dec)] states that she was born on November 17th 1899 at her parents' address 54, Roding Road, Homerton in central Hackney. Her father, occupied as a commercial traveller, was the informant.
The 1901 Census finds her at age 1 living with her parents at 12, Eighth Avenue in East Ham, Essex.
She married Frederick Henry Russell in 1929. The marriage certificate [Marriage Index: Hackney 1b 1045, 1929 (Sept)] states that they married by Banns on August 17th 1929 at the Parish Church of St. John at Hackney. He is described as a bachelor and commercial manager aged 29 residing at 19, Halidon Street in Hackney, and she as a spinster aged 29 residing at 41, Clifden Road in Clapton. His father Fred Russell is described as an electrician and hers as an 'independent'. The witnesses were her father and William Noel Russell who was presumably a relative of her husband. Her daughter has kindly supplied to the site author a photograph of the wedding group in the back garden of the house in Clifden Road.
Soon afterwards Blanche (2) and Frederick Henry moved to Natal in South Africa where they produced a daughter Audrey Natalie born on November 11th 1930. In 1933 they returned to England where they remained. When WW2 began they moved to Shefford in Bedfordshire.
