Alfred Nelson Woodhurst was born on February 25th 1923 to parents Percy Woodhurst and his wife Lucy Florence (nee) Hooper [Birth Index: Colchester 4a 1424, 1923 (March)].
He married Muriel Elizabeth Tokely in 1948 [Marriage Index: Colchester 4a 1391, 1948 (June)]. She was born in 1927 [Birth Index: Lexden 4a 1361, 1927 (June)] in the small village of Wormingford, Essex and was one of 13 children; her mother's maiden name was Gooderham. The family spelt Muriel's maiden name as variously Tokely or Tokeley.
Alfred and Muriel produced the two children listed below.
Alfred died on February 14th 1995 [Death Index: 25 Fe 1923, Colchester D69C, 4691D, Entry No. 226, 1995 (Feb) - DoB 25FE1923].
Muriel lived all her life in Colchester where in later years she taught dress making at the local adult education college. She lived independently until she was 93; but in her last years she was a resident at Alderwood Care Home in Colchester. She died aged 96 on 23 June 2023.
