The 1861 Census finds him aged "7" living with his parents at 11, Cross Court, Greengate in Salford and occupied as an errand-boy.
The 1871 Census finds him aged "17" living with his mother at 30, Deal Street in Salford and occupied as a labourer.
He may have died aged "22" in 1875 [Death Index: Rochdale 8e 52, 1875 (March)].
