Joseph (2) Livesey was born in Warrington in 1872 to parents Joseph (1) Livesey and his first wife Alice Cartwright [Birth Index: Warrington 8c 159, 1872 (Sept) - indexed as "Livsey"].
The 1881 Census finds him at age "7" living with his widowed father at 22, Wood Street, Salford in the household of his grandfather George (1).
The 1891 Census apparently finds him at age "18" serving in the King's Royal Rifles in their barracks at Winchester. The record correctly gives his birthplace as Warrington.
He has not yet been located in the 1901 Census.
In 1902 he married in Folkestone, Kent to Ada Fanny Kilby [Marriage Index: Elham 2a 2279, 1902 (Sept)]. The marriage certificate describes him as a "paviour" aged "29" and names his father as Joseph Livesey, deceased (no occupation given). He and his bride both gave their address as No. 16, Walton Road, Folkestone. The latter address was actually that of Ada's parents Henry and Mary A. Kilby. The 1901 Census finds her living there with them and five siblings. She was born in Folkestone in 1882 [Birth Index: Elham 2a 1009, 1882 (Sept)].
The 1911 Census finds him with Ada and three children living at 16, Walton Road in Folkestone and occupied as a general labourer. It appears that they produced no further children.
In 1917, at this same address, a child named Sydney Livesey Filmer was born [Birth Index: Elham 2a 1584, 1917 (Dec)] to a very young mother named Dorothy Ellen Filmer. She married some years later. Sydney was informally adopted by Joseph (2) and Ada.
Joseph (2) died in 1924 aged "52" [Death Index: Elham 2a 1060, 1924 (Sept)].
In 1928 Ada Fanny remarried to William G. Cook [Marriage Index: Elham 2a 2838, 1928 (June)].
