Alexander (1) Livesey was born in 1851 to parents Matthew (2) Livesey and his wife Mary Taws [Birth Index: Manchester 20 656, 1851 (Sept)]. He was christened at Manchester Cathedral on September 14th 1851 [IGI: Batch C073543].
The 1861 Census him at age "10" living with his parents at 58, Stonehewer Street in the St. George district of Manchester.
The 1871 Census finds him at age "19" living with his parents at 43, Fielden Street in the St. George district, and occupied as a clerk.
He married Jane Ellen Horsfield in 1875 [Marriage Index: Prestwich 8d 817, 1875 (Sept)]. She was born at Crumpsall in 1851 to parents William Horsfield and his wife Catharine [Birth Index: Manchester 20 577, 1851 (Sept)]. She was baptized at Manchester Cathedral on August 31st 1851 and had siblings named John, Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth Ann and Mary.
The 1881 Census finds them living at 22, Osborne Street in Manchester, describing Alexander (1) as a book-keeper aged "29". Also in the household was Jane Ellen's widowed sister Mary (nee Horsfield) Whelan and the latter's daughter Harriet Whelan.
The 1891 Census finds them living at 7, Lucy Street in Stretford, describing Alexander (1) as a cashier aged "39". The schedule notes that their son Arnold Horsfield (1) had a "spinal complaint from childhood". Also in the household was Jane Ellen's nephew Joseph Whelan and niece Harriet Whelan.
The 1901 Census finds them still living at 7, Lucy Street. Alexander (1), aged "49", was now occupied as a drysalter's traveller. The household included, as a visitor, their now-married daughter Amy (1).
It is not yet known where or when Alexander (1) or Jane Ellen died.
Amy (1) married William Thomas Harrison in 1900 [Marriage Index: Manchester 8d 380, 1900 (Sept)]. The 1901 Census finds her visiting her parents.
Arnold Horsfield (1) died aged "18" in 1898 [Death Index: Barton I. 8c 476, 1898 (Sept)].
