William Lemon (1) Hogger was born to parents Bartholomew (3) Hogger and his wife Martha (nee) Lemon. He was christened on July 17th 1811 at Monks Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
Around 1834 he partnered Ann (nee) Warren, the daughter of Zachariah Warren and his wife Jemima (nee) Underwood; Ann was christened on June 15th 1806 at Chelsworth; William Lemon (1) produced by Ann an illegitimate daughter christened as "Mary Ann Hogger Warren" at Monks Eleigh on December 28th 1834 [PR: Cosford DB]. The following year his sister Martha (1) married Ann's brother John (1) Warren.
He subsequently married Ann on January 27th 1837 at Monks Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1841 Census finds him at (rounded) age "30" living with Ann and three children in Church Street, Monks Eleigh where he was occupied as a butcher.
The 1851 Census finds him at age "38" living with Ann and their children in Church Street where he was again occupied as a butcher.
The 1861 Census finds him at age "49" living with Ann and two of their children in High Street, Monks Eleigh where he was occupied as a butcher's dealer. Also present was his 6-year-old niece Martha (5) Hogger.
He died aged "57" in 1868 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 325, 1868 (Sept)] and was buried in Monks Eleigh on July 13th, the same day on which his father was also buried there [PR: Cosford DB]. He had committed suicide by drowning himself in the river behind the street in Monks Eleigh. A Coroner's Inquest concluded that he had died during a fit of temporary insanity. These details were published in The Suffolk Chronicle, issue of July 11th 1868. It is not known how his death related to that of his father.
The 1871 Census finds Ann aged "65" living in the High Street, Monks Eleigh, together with her grandson William (13) and a girl Susan Taylor aged "15" whose connection to her is unstated and unknown. Ann was occupied as a laundress.
Ann appears to have died aged "68" in 1875 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 366, 1875 (March) - indexed as "Hoggar"].
All the children above other than Martha (2) were christened at Monks Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1851 Census finds Mary Ann (3) aged "16" living in the household of a farmer James Gage at Rushbrooke Farm in Milden and occupied as a house servant. The 1861 Census finds her living with her sister Martha (2) at 31, Founereau Road in St. Margaret Parish, Ipswich where she was occupied as a cook. Intensive searches have failed to locate her in the 1871 Census. In 1875 she married a widower James Knock [Marriage Index: Kingston 2a 383, 1875 (June) - indexed as "Hoggar"]. He was born at Hitcham, Suffolk around 1821-22. It is not known why they married in Kingston, Surrey. The 1881 Census finds them living, with no children other than James' son Harry from his previous marriage, in the Causeway at Hitcham where James was occupied as a farmer. The 1891 Census finds them still there and again with no children of their own. James was now occupied as an agricultural labourer. The 1901 Census finds them living at the Water Run in Hitcham. James died aged "82" in 1903 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 473, 1903 (Dec)], and Mary Ann (3) died aged "69" in 1904 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 495, 1904 (Dec)].
The 1861 Census finds William (8) at age "24", unmarried and living with his parents in Monks Eleigh where he was occupied as a brick maker. Around 1865-66 he fathered a child William (13) Hogger - born at Monks Eleigh - by a wife or partner unknown. He died in Edmonton, Middlesex aged "34" [Death Index: Edmonton 3a 137, 1871 (March)] but was returned for burial at Monks Eleigh on February 4th [PR: Cosford DB]. The 1871 Census finds William (13) with his grandmother Ann (nee Warren), but no subsequent trace of him has yet been found.

The 1861 Census finds Jemima (2) at age "12" living with her parents in Monks Eleigh. Unusually, in later censuses she over-stated rather than under-stated her age. The 1871 Census finds her at age "24" in Bures Road, Assington in the household of a farmer William Spooner who, in 1857, had married the widowed mother-in-law Susannah of her sister Ellen (2). She was unmarried and occupied as a laundress. The 1881 Census finds her at age "35" in Bridge Street, Hadleigh, still unmarried and occupied as a housekeeper in the household of a retired farmer John Wenden. The 1891 Census finds her at age "45" in Hadleigh Street, Bildeston in the household of a labourer Thomas Clarke. She was still unmarried and was again occupied as a housekeeper.
