William (6) Hogger was born to parents Thomas (3) Hogger and his first wife Mary Anne (nee) Hill, and was christened on December 11th 1831 at Milden [PR: Cosford DB]. In various census records, however, he gave his birthplace as Brent Eleigh, Suffolk.
The 1841 Census finds him at age "10" living with his parents in Brent Eleigh.
The 1851 Census finds him at age "19" living with his parents at Town Hill, Brent Eleigh and occupied as an agricultural labourer.
In 1854 he married Amelia (nee) Ramplin [Marriage Index: Cosford 4a 511, 1854 (March)]. They married on February 4th at Lavenham; Amelia was the daughter of Charles Ramplin and his wife Charlotte (nee) Pryke and was christened on April 13th 1834 at Lavenham [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1861 Census finds him at age "29" living with his family at Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as an agricultural labourer.
In early 1863 Amelia died [Death Index: Cosford 4a 310, 1863 (March)]. She was buried at age "28" on March 6th at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
Later in 1863 William (6) remarried to Harriet (nee) Gridley [Marriage Index: Cosford 4a 609, 1863 (Sept)]. They married on August 2nd at Brent Eleigh; Harriet was the daughter of Abraham Gridley and his wife Rebecca (nee) Goymer and was christened on December 20th 1840 at Little Waldingfield [PR: Cosford DB]. The marriage was witnessed by his brother Henry (2) Hogger and the latter's future wife Emma Leeks.
Extensive searches in the 1871 Census have failed to locate William (6), his wife or his children.
The 1881 Census finds them living at Lavenham Road Cottages in Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as a labourer.
The 1891 Census finds them living at The Cottage by the Cock Inn in Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as a farm servant.
The 1901 Census finds them living in Lavenham Road, Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as a farm labourer.
Harriet died aged "70" in 1911 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 422, 1911 (June)]. She was buried on May 17th at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
William (6) died aged "85" in 1915 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 1041, 1915 (Dec)]. He was buried on December 14th at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
The first child above was christened at Lavenham and the other three at Brent Eleigh.
The 1861 Census finds Robert (3) at age "1" living with his parents at Brent Eleigh. The 1881 Census appears to find him lodging at 13, Matilda Street, Islington in the household of a grocer's assistant Alfred Warren and occupied as a farm labourer. The schedule gives his age as "26" - probably an enumeration error - and his birthplace as Brent Eleigh. In 1884 he married Sarah Ann Luxon [Marriage Index: St. Saviour 1d 182, 1884 (Sept)]. She was born in Topsham, Devon around early 1849 [Birth Index: St. Thomas 10 277, 1849 (March) - indexed as "Luxton"]. The 1851 Census finds her aged "2" living there with her parents Thomas Luxon, a fisherman, and Martha. The 1881 Census finds her living at 9, Maclise Road, Kensington in London where she was occupied as a cook in the household of William M. Young, a retired Secretary of the London Chartered Bank of Australia. The 1891 Census finds Robert (3) and Sarah Ann - with no children - living at 78, Denmark Road in Camberwell where he was occupied as a builder's yard foreman. The 1901 Census finds them, again with no children, living at 82, Moncrieff Street in Camberwell where he was occupied as a builder's manager. The 1911 Census finds them living at 87, Victoria Road in Peckham where he was occupied as a foreman to a builder's merchant. Their census form confirms that they had produced no children. He died aged "54" in 1914 [Death Index: Camberwell 1d 982, 1914 (March)].
Like his mother, Harry (2) died in early 1863 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 309, 1863 (March)]. He was buried at age "8 months" on January 29th at St. Mary's in Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB : National Burial Index].
