Peter (1) Hogger was born to parents Thomas (1) Hogger and his wife Mary (nee) Rainham. He was christened on January 2nd 1798 at Brent Eleigh, Suffolk [PR: Cosford DB]. His occupation was wheelwright.
He married Theresa (nee) Underwood on June 28th 1827 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB]. She was born about 1798. The marriage was witnessed by John Woodgate, George Underwood, Anne Underwood and a person with surname Fayers, whose connections are unknown.
The 1841 Census finds them living with seven children in Brent Eleigh where Peter (1) was occupied as a wheelwright.
Theresa died at age "44" in 1842 [Death Index: Cosford 12 230, 1842 (Dec)] and was buried on December 23rd 1842 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
Six years later Peter (1) remarried to Eliza (nee) Halls [Marriage Index: Cosford 12 669, 1848 (Dec)]. They married on October 12th 1848 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB]. Eliza was born at Shelland - about 8 miles north-east of Lavenham - in about 1812. The marriage was witnessed by Sarah Halls - presumably a relative of Eliza - and John Hogger who may have been Peter (1)'s brother John (1).
The 1851 Census finds Peter (1) aged "53" living with Eliza and several children at Brent Eleigh where he was occupied as a wheelwright.
He died at age "61" in 1859 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 281, 1859 (June) - indexed under "Hoggar"]. He died on April 1st 1859 at Brent Eleigh and was buried there on April 8th 1859 [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1861 Census finds his widow Eliza at age "49" living in a beerhouse at Brent Eleigh where she was occupied as a wheelwright. Living with her were her two children and her stepson John (3).
Eliza died at age "57" on May 31st 1869 at Brent Eleigh [Death Index: Cosford 4a 305, 1869 (June)]. She was buried there on June 6th 1869 [PR: Cosford DB].
James (5) was christened on March 13th 1836 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB]. He died aged 1 the following year [Death Index: Cosford 12 213, 1837 (Dec)]. The GRO Index spells his surname as "Hoggar". He was buried at Brent Eleigh on October 8th 1837 [PR: Cosford DB].
