Mary (3) Hogger was born to parents Thomas (1) Hogger and his wife Mary (nee) Rainham. She was christened on May 26th 1796 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
She produced an illegitimate daughter Elizabeth (2) Hogger around 1814. A Filiation Order dated September 15th 1814 names the father as a wheelwright Thomas Sparke of Monks Eleigh [National Archives: FL 537/7/17].
She married George (1) Underwood at Brent Eleigh on March 22nd 1820 and by him produced at least seven children.
The 1841 Census finds her at age "45" living with George (1) and five children in Bury Road, Alpheton in Suffolk where he was occupied as a blacksmith.
The 1851 Census finds them living with just their daughter Martha in the Corner Houses in Alpheton where George (1) was again occupied as a blacksmith. The family of their married son George (2), also a blacksmith, was living next door.
Mary (3) died in Alpheton but was buried at age "64" in Woolpit, Suffolk on December 30th 1859 [PR: Cosford DB]. The GRO reference appears to be [Death Index: Sudbury 4a 274, 1859 (Dec)] but gives her forenames as "Mary Ann", possibly owing to informant error.
The 1861 Census finds George (1) widowed and living with his son John in Alpheton where he was occupied as a farmer and blacksmith.
It is not yet known where or when George (1) died.
The 1841 Census probably finds Elizabeth (2) at age "25" living in Chelsworth as a servant with her aunt Elizabeth, the wife of Mary (3)'s brother William (3). In 1843 she married Nehemiah Stow Lemon [Marriage Index: Sudbury 12 637, 1843 (Sept)]. He was born on December 4th 1809 to parents Robert Lemon and his wife Elizabeth Stow and was christened at Layham on May 6th 1810 [IGI: Batch C063202]. In later life he sometimes went by the name "Stow Lemon". The 1851 Census finds Elizabeth (2) and Nehemiah living in Wolverstone, Suffolk where he was occupied as a blacksmith labourer. The 1861 Census finds them living at Barrow Hill in Acton. The 1871 and 1881 Censuses find them living in Cross Green, Cockfield in Suffolk. The latter census includes a note that Nehemiah was now lame. In 1886 he died aged "76" [Death Index: Cosford 4a 448, 1886 (March)]. He had been a blacksmith throughout his life and had produced no children. The 1891 Census finds Elizabeth (2) widowed and living in Station Road, Cockfield where she was being supported by parish relief. She died very soon afterwards aged "75" [Death Index: Cosford 4a 437, 1891 (June)].
