Brief biography

Martha (2) Hogger was born in Monks Eleigh around 1841 to parents William Lemon (1) Hogger and his wife Ann (nee) Warren. Her birth reference is probably [Birth Index: Cosford 12 352, 1841 (March) - indexed as "Haggar"].

The 1841 Census finds her at age "4 months" living with her parents in Church Street, Monks Eleigh.

The 1851 Census finds her at age "10" living with her parents in Church Street.

The 1861 Census finds her living with her sister Mary Ann (3) at 31, Founereau Road in St. Margaret Parish, Ipswich where she was occupied as a house maid.

In 1867 she married James Styles [Marriage Index: Cosford 4a 695, 1867 (Sept) - indexed as "Hoggar"]. James was christened to parents Elijah Styles and Charlotte on May 10th 1835 at East Clandon, Surrey [IGI: Batch C104883].

The 1871 Census finds them with their first child living at 5, Howard Street in Long Ditton, Surrey where James was occupied as a malt labourer.

The 1881 Census finds them with five children living at Howard Street Cottage in Long Ditton where James was now occupied as a water works labourer.

The 1891 Census finds them living at 2, Windmill Lane in Long Ditton where James was again occupied as a water works labourer. Their son William James was no longer with them.

The 1901 Census finds them with four children living in Herbert Terrace, Long Ditton where James was now occupied as a gardener.

James died aged "75" in 1904 [Death Index: Kingston 2a 292, 1904 (March)].
