Lydia Lydle was born to parents Robert Lydle and his wife Hannah (nee) Brown; she was christened on November 11th 1792 at Barrow, Suffolk [PR: Cosford DB].
She married John Hale on February 23rd 1815 at Barrow [PR: Cosford DB]. He was probably the son born in 1791 to parents John and Elizabeth Hale and baptized on January 8th 1801 at Denham, about 6 miles WSW of Bury St. Edmunds [IGI: Batch P012541]. His birthplace was probably Hundon, about 10 miles south of Denham.
The 1841 Census finds Lydia and John living in The Street in Barrow. John was occupied as a wheelwright, as were two of their sons.
The 1851 Census finds them again in Barrow, and John occupied as a wheelwright employing two men. John's birthplace is given as Hundon.
Lydia died during the following decade, probably in 1856 [Death Index: Thingoe 4a 294, 1856 (June)].
The 1861 Census finds John widowed at age "70" and living alone in Barrow, still occupied as a wheelwright. His birthplace is again given as Hundon.
The 1871 Census finds John widowed at age "80" and living alone in The Street, Barrow, described as a retired wheelwright. His birthplace is here given, probably in error, as Barrow.
He may subsequently have moved away from Barrow and may have died aged "82" in 1872 [Death Index: Woodbridge 4a 401, 1872 (June)].
All the children above were christened at Barrow [PR: Cosford DB].
