Much of the material relating to the descendants of John (3) Hogger was kindly supplied for this website by his great-great-grandson Peter Kelly Hogger.
John (3) Hogger was born on January 27th 1833 to parents Peter (1) Hogger and his first wife Theresa (nee) Underwood. He was christened on February 24th 1833 at Brent Eleigh [PR: Cosford DB].
The 1841 Census finds him at age "8" living with his parents in Brent Eleigh.
The 1851 Census finds him at age "18" living with his father and step-mother Eliza at Brent Eleigh where he was "employed at home".
The 1861 Census finds him at age "28", unmarried and living with his step-mother and her two children at a beerhouse in Brent Eleigh. He was occupied as a wheelwright.
The 1871 Census finds him unmarried and living with his sister Mary (6) in Bury Road, Thorpe Morieux. Also in the household was his nephew Samuel Peter (1), being the oldest child of his brother Peter (5).
The 1881 Census finds him still unmarried and living at Bury Road in Thorpe Morieux with his sister Mary (6) acting as housekeeper. Also in the household were his nephew William (12) aged "17" and his niece Annie aged "15", these also fathered by Peter (5).
On December 29th 1885 he married Elizabeth Dunt [Marriage Index: Yarmouth 4b 49, 1885 (Dec)]. She was born on December 7th 1847 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk [Birth Index: Yarmouth 13 340, 1847 (Dec)].
The 1891 Census finds him with his wife and first three children living in Bury Road, Thorpe Morieux, where he was still occupied as a carpenter and wheelwright. Also in the household was his unmarried sister Ann (1) together with his niece Theresa Mary (1) - daughter of his deceased brother Jesse (1) - and her (adopted) brother William Hayward (1) Hogger.
The 1901 Census finds the family living at the Post Office in Bury Road where John (3) was again occupied as a carpenter and wheelwright and also as the postmaster.
He died aged "70" on September 2nd 1903 [Death Index: Cosford 4a 426, 1903 (Sept)].
Elizabeth died on June 2nd 1940.
